TTFN
We're off for a week now. We decided to do something relaxing and low-key, so Angus and I booked up a narrowboat for a week. You hire a boat, tootle along locks and canals (we haven't chosen the route yet. Naturally we leave today, so of course we have no idea where we're going) enjoying the view, relaxing, popping into an occasional pub for a pint and a meal (they are usually family friendly places) and unwinding from the hellhole known as our home, the building site.
It's been raining all week, with no end in sight.
It'll be two adults, two teens, two infants and a dog on one boat. For a week.
And did I mention that one of the infants came down with chicken pox yesterday? Just in time? Murphy's Law and all?

Must've slipped my mind.
See you in a week.

PS-Conceive Magazine have generously donated $200 to the UTERUS fund, of which the next drive kicks off in September when we choose a new blogger to help get to their hopes of having a family. So please give them some clicking love on the below as a thanks - it was supposed to be on my sidebar but I suck at that, so it's in the main post instead.

Posted by: sue at July 15, 2008 02:58 PMThe narrowboat sounds charming. I've seen similar on the German canals and wondered about who holidays that way -- apparently overstressed renovators with runaway dogs and pocked children is the answer.
Do enjoy the getaway!
Posted by: Tinker at July 15, 2008 02:47 AMOh dear Lord, I did that with my family when I was a sullen teenager and it was every other second "Lock! Lock! Throw the ropes out!" and we had to toss the giant ropes over the side to tie up as they were raising or lowering the water through the locks. OY. I barely had time to work on my tan.
Here's hoping you have a better time, get some sun and the babes feel better. Tell us all about it when you get home :-)
Posted by: Watson at July 14, 2008 06:01 PMWoah. That is so cool.
Have lots of fun babe, and relax if you can!
;)
Posted by: Teresa at July 12, 2008 04:12 PMMy advice is - buy milk often. Depending on where you go you may find that the canal wanders off through fields, miles away from anywhere selling provisions. We had a lovely holiday on the canal and I hope that you do too.
Posted by: Caroline M at July 12, 2008 01:28 PMHave a good time away. You deserve it.
Posted by: Vicki at July 12, 2008 12:34 PMhave a lovely time - you should get at least a couple of sunny days I hope. anything at all would be better than more time with the builders i would have thought....
