Out of Office But In Office

Sorry I’ve been quiet. We’ve been very, very busy and I’ve little to no time/access to my laptop.

We met a nice man at the airport.

He was swiftly joined by a nice lady.

We’ve been working and studying hard.

The committee meets every night.

And when we rest, we do it collectively.

The silence will continue until the meetings end. Be back next week.

Since their birth my dad has never, ever missed a meal, a bath, and a book reading to the twins on every single visit of his. Not once. I love that.

Looks like such a lovely visit. And Nora’s hair is getting so long! Those two just get more gorgeous all the time.

Too sweet and too funny — when my parents come to watch PHX Baby, they call it a “conference” …

Wonderful. I wish my dad were alive – he would adore my daughter and all of his other grandchildren.

Grandfather of the year! That’s way more than my parents do combined when we visit them or they come here.

I’m glad he’s having such a good time with his grandchildren. I’m sure he’s enjoying time with his daughter too. :)

    Awwww. So lovely.

I adored my grand dudes long before they were born and every minute after. I read them Harry Potter long after they had read it themselves but they insisted we read several chapters every night. They still talk about it. They came to visit again this summer (they’ve come for the last 12 summers) – this summer they were 17 and 18 – and stayed their traditional month. Now it’s dominoes, Monopoly, Crap or Fact and horrific card games – we cheat at all of ‘em. Your dad will have the same relationship with your kidlettes.

    Sweet.

  8. This makes my heart melt

  9. I always wondered at my moms mother ability. Looking back over my childhood, (as one does in ones early twenties) I just thought that she didn’t really “do” the mummy stuff. Que the arrival of *my* children, and she’s turned into Super Granny. (most of the time). I suppose some folks are more one than the other ? Oh well – just sharing here. I think it’s awesome that your dad is so into the kids when he visits – that is incredible. Great for the two to *know* him that way.

I LOVE that too. He is soaking up all that he missed when you were small and making up for lost time.

I absolutely love that you’re getting this with your dad. :)

  12. Melody says:

Your dad probably loves that he doesn’t miss any of that good stuff, either. : )

I love that. What a good grandfather he is. :) My parents bring books when they come for a visit…and they read the whole weekend. To themsleves. Instead of interacting with the family. Sometimes I am not sure why they make the trip down.

You know what I love about this? In the third picture, your dad still has his coat on while he’s reading to Nora.

  16. Champion Grandad there.

And… I don’t know what the black stuffed toy (?dog) on the red bed is doing to the white toy underneath it, but I feel they need a different room to do it in…

Where have I been all this time?

The stuff I write about!
