This weekend I accomplished the following:
1) Mowed the lawn*
2) Got drunk (too much stress) and shagged my boyfriend*
3) Made breakfast. OK, actually, I made it on Saturday (bacon sarnies for them, an egg bagel for me. He made it on Sunday – poached eggs with anchovies. Sounds gross, in reality a little slice of culinary heaven.)
4) Four loads of laundry
5) Changed all the bedding
6) Four loads of dishes
7) Cleaned out all the medicine cupboards (sounds minor, but one medicine cupboard was a knee-high chest full of a myriad of things. We’re often sick but the six year old antibiotics and the strange, unknown Swedish medications are no longer effective, thanks).*
8) Made dinner (Caribbean chicken. For him, anyway, me I enjoyed some tofu and some black beans and rice.)*
9) Did entire week’s food shopping with two toddlers
10) Painted the study*
11) Baked blueberry muffins from first principles (from a fab recipe)
12) Hoovered the house
13) Half re-arranged kitchen cupboards
14) Nearly made dinner (was nearly Jamie Oliver’s homemade pizza recipe. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out – it’s to die for, although it makes so fucking much we always make half portions.). Instead Alastair made us a dinner of prawn massaman curry and homemade chapati breads.*
15) Worked on music for wedding*
16) Bought paint for next project – re-doing the nursery (it’s the green color. I have a plan.)
17) Located cheap vintage French wine crates for the project after that, which will look like this*:

18) Blogged.*
19) Made two family lunches (Brie pasta with tomatoes and green beans on Saturday, buffalo burgers/veggie burgers on Sunday)
20) Sang “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” 472 billions times. This was closely followed by “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, which got aired 299 million times
21) Narrowed down the menu for the reception
22) All while wrangling twin toddlers, playing on the floor amongst, refereeing and entertaining and hoping to get to that weekend newspaper that calls my name.
* = done while the babies were sleeping. While I was doing babies/chores during the day, poor Alastair was knee-deep in plaster (front of house around the door) and in levelling the floor, which was a suck job indeed.

What I did not accomplish:
1) Catching up on my sleep (says the insomniac)
2) Catching up on correspondence (Hi Melody!)
3) Gardening – my vegetable patch is feeling lonely, but then it’s fucking cold outside and it’s either the tomatoes or my fingers at this stage
4) Finishing the study – the wallpaper I’d hung last year is coming down and I have some ideas in mind, I just need a chunk of time
5) That whole world peace shtick
6) The updated project plan I promised I’d have Monday morning
7) Worked on emptying out the hard drive on the TV – I’m up to 49% (mostly True Blood and Mad Men) and it’s eating me because I am anal retentive and don’t like the hard drive higher than the 20% mark
8) Actually read those weekend newspapers
9) Painting my toenails.
10) Moisturizing. Shut up, I’m about 20 years behind on that routine.
And I just wanted to say thank you for being there on my last post. I know that a shitty commenter does not mean that I need to deal with them, but it was all a bit much last week. I felt like everyone was coming at me – Why don’t you work enough? Why do you work? Why are you here? I just had enough. So this is me saying thank you, I owe you one. And we are a good place to grow up, I have to believe that.

You guys are amazing – to achieve all that you did this weekend just gone would have taken us ages and a fair helping of rows.
I got a few books read and eleventy hundred nursery rhymes sung. Not nearly as much as you!
I threw a hissy fit in the mall this weekend. That has to count for something.
The “49%” would kill me. It would have to be 48 or 50-I would be all twitchy if it was an odd number, you know?
Bloody hell! (I can say that cos Rory is asleep so wont be exposed to it) You did loads … I achieved NOTHING in comparison. Nothing I tell you!!
And my hard drive is 93% full – its screaming at me there is 7% free. It is practically flashing red. I havent seen True Blood for weeks … have about 20 episodes of Life on there … a few House and so much more. Beginning to panic about watching it all. I care more about this than I ever did about work. Shallow, moi?? Why yes!

It makes me tired just to read about all you did! and I love the photo.
Well, I’ll say this for insomnia – it apparently lets you get a lot done!
Personally I am in awe of all you do. You don’t owe an explanation to anyone! But I am glad that you share because it inspires me to do more, too. Have a great week!
I’m so glad there was no asterisk after #20 – or your stress levels would have been unmanageable indeed.
(Hi Lady!)
What, no world peace? Just kidding – you are amazing and it sounds like it was a fabulous weekend!
Cleaning out the medicine cabinet is a HUGE deal!
Sounds like a very productive weekend. Want to fly to the states and work on my house next weekend? :-)
Sounds like a lovely weekend!
Is that a bruise I see there on Nick’s noggin??
(Please say yes, as it will make me feel better. Chloe has one ever present on either right, left, or center of hers. And apparently has decided bonking her head on things when she’s mad is the way to go. Looks VERY intelligent when she does it, let me tell you.)
LOVE the wine crates! You continue to amaze….
@ Tracy – has has two bruises on his noggin, actually – one from falling into the toybox at nursery and another on the side of his head from a neighbor’s dog (this has been addressed). We seem to be magnets for bruises in this household…
I think the book’s working!
Fun with Floor Leveller – Alistair, you have my sympathies ;)!
