The BBC

…are here, interviewing Alastair and I for a documentary about parenting.

I hope it goes well. I hope they know how much we love our kids. I hope we get across that we do love our kids and are parenting in the way that we feel is right for our family.

Additionally I hope we don’t look like assholes.

That last one is kind of a biggie.

Once again regretting that I do not live in the UK- I doubt that the BBC will broadcast this documentary here in Germany.
    You rock,

    L.

  2. Sarah says:

    Nice gig!

  3. abs says:

How did this come about? You won’t come across as assholes, none of us need to see it to know that.

    Abs x

  4. Suze says:

wow – did they find you through the blog? good luck!

  5. Mr.Thomas says:

Wow, very cool. I hope all goes well.
P.S. Your phone rocks on the wall.

  6. Suzie says:

Cool…you’ll look the cool parents you are…good luck…will look forward to watching it.

  7. Poppy says:

    How cool!!

By the way…what’s up with the wedding???? Nosy folk want to know!

  8. HOW many leads & wires?!

  9. And they’ve totally moved your table. I can see how that might not be cool.

  10. Donna says:

How exciting! Of course you won’t come off as assholes b/c you are NOT assholes and you ARE good parents, and just seeing how happy and secure Nick and Nora are will let everyone know that.

  11. Donna says:

Because I assume this is mainly about Nick and Nora rather than Melissa and Jeff. You’re good parents to them too!

  12. moira says:

OMG … can I have your autograph?!?!?!

  13. D says:

    Wow, that’s very cool.

Make sure they know how to spell your name. ABC News interviewed me for a documentary once and mangled my first AND last names. It was highly uncool.

  14. staciet says:

How exciting! Don’t worry. You are going to blow them away with your awesomeness! :-)

  15. Secret D says:

Wow! There is never a dull moment in your life! Good luck, you will come across great.

  16. Veronica says:

Jesus! There are giant lights and shit and you’re going to be on TV! Let me know what they’re calling it, so I can watch for it on ABC here (hopefully).

    I don’t think you’ll look like arseholes. I’m not sure it’s possible.

  17. Gill says:

I think I’d have a minor meltdown at all that stuff in my house!

How cool is this…and has Nick gone crazy for the lights?

Please tell us when it’s on so I can watch it and pretend I know you! :-)

  18. Charles says:

Great. Any idea how we on the other side of the pond can view?

  19. Oooh! Cool!

I’m sure you guys will come across fine. I would ask to see final runs before signing that release form!

  20. Solomon says:

Wow! Talk about your “15 minutes of fame”. I’m thinking Helen (I mean Shannon) has had about 6 hours and 20 minutes of fame. : ) How’d the BBC pick you two? Did the daycare suggest you to them? Did they see you at Starbucks talking with Santa? Inquiring minds want to know. : )

  21. Teresa says:

How was Nick around those lights? Could he even take his eyes off them? And I can just imagine Nora when they turned the camera on her.

No way you two could look like assholes, unless you went totally out of your way to look like assholes. That would be out of character; but you could act like an asshole if you wanted to, which in your case is more like being an antagonistic asshole, but only when necessary. Which is one of the reasons of many that I love you.

    Dig?

They couldn’t have picked better parents to interview, and you’ll probably end up making the rest of us parents look like the assholes. ;)

  22. sue says:

I’m sure you did wonderfully… now, when will it air? :)

  23. Miranda says:

Cool! Maybe we can find you on youtube or hulu if it’s not broadcast here in the US.

  24. Steve says:

I bet Nick is loving the lighting….

  25. kenju says:

Oh, how I wish I could see that!!!

  26. Kelly K says:

Ohhhh! Exciting! I hope you’ll let us know when it’ll be on!

  27. geohde says:

Fortunately enough, nobody has pinned me down on camera about my parenting strategies.

I am but extremely human in a saggy-nappy kind of way sometimes,

    g

  28. Donna says:

Wow! How awesome is that? When will it air?

  29. Xebeche says:

It all looks so natural on TV, behind the scenes it’s amazing it all fits in your dining room.

Where have I been all this time?

The stuff I write about!
